Shop NowIn honor of National Rainbow Baby Day on August 22, Owlet Cares is proud to share about our nonprofit partner No Foot Too Small and the impacts they are making on families experiencing pregnancies after loss through their “Rainbow Baby Project”.
No Foot Too Small was founded in 2013 out of a desire to draw awareness to pregnancy loss and infant mortality, while also encouraging the celebration of little lives lost.
When No Foot Too Small welcomes a family into their community, it’s a relationship that lasts for years to come. They walk alongside families who are grieving the loss of a child and in some cases, get to witness these families welcome a rainbow baby - a baby born after loss.
The experience of a subsequent pregnancy is not without its challenges and fears, and No Foot Too Small is providing additional support for these families with their Rainbow Baby Project. “Loss doesn’t go away with the arrival of a new baby,” says founder Robin Boudreau. “It creates different thoughts and feelings for the mom and dad as they move forward with their grief.
Each month, Boudreau and team selects a loss family that’s expecting another child and gifts them with an entire basket of items that will support them through their pregnancy, delivery and journey home, including an Owlet Dream Duo that’s been donated through the Owlet Cares program.
“As the Director of Family Support and loss mom myself, gifting each Rainbow Baby Project to a loss family who is now expecting is uniquely special,” says Allison Maahs of No Foot Too Small. “Often, I have a front row seat to not only the grief of losing their baby but also the challenging journey of expecting a baby after loss.”
“The Rainbow Baby Project will offer No Foot Too Small another opportunity to help these moms continue to navigate their previous loss with new joy,” says Boudreau.
And for families who have received the Dream Duo, there is joy and the gift of something else.
“We are incredibly thankful for the peace of mind that Owlet brings to us as parents. When you’ve been blindsided with the loss of your baby shortly after his birth, your mind can understandably spiral quickly. The Owlet provides us a deeper sigh of relief knowing that baby is being monitored closely. We are so grateful for this technology!”,” says Courtney Fitzpatrick, Mother to Angel Henry and Rainbow Elliott.
